BATTLE OF PETERSBERG will appeal to hisorical and strategy turn based gamers. Sure, there is room for improvement, especially with the hexagonal map, camera perspective and color scheme, which make it difficult to see terrain and to select units. And, I can't speak to historical accuracy because I'm no expert. But you get an entire campaign providing several hours of gameplay through multiple battles. The gameplay is simple and no-frills that gives artillery a lot of power (they can move, condutct ranged attack, and destroy entire units, all in one turn). Your strategy will focus on using artillery to blast away entire sections of the enemy front line, followed up by infantry to clean up anything missed by the artillery, and cavalry to exploit the hole you've just punched. My recollection of the Petersburg campaign is that this is basically the strategy used. Recommended despite its problems.. Want to play something strategic? Play Chess...This game felt a lot like chess only this time there is so much limited actions you can use that it just feels like there is less content here than a game like Chess. If you wouldwant to waste your .99 cents for a game chose something else than this one. I would recomend but seeing that this game is so simple and boring I just felt that Tetris championships are intense especially when Jeff Cavalier from Athlean X decides to compete in them..... Very simple TBS , only 4 missions and game completed. It is cheap which is a saving grace, however there reallly isn't much to it all strategy wise. The historic photgraphs on the between mission screens are actually the best feature in the game and of course the developer didn't create those. Sorry to say although not an awful experience it just isn't anywhere deep enough, nor compelling enough to be worth replaying on different difficulty settings. I found the last 2 misiions a chore to slog through (even though they are all short) just to complete it , and I still have change from 2 hours to fill, and don't wish to fill the remainder playing this, unfortunately it's just too tedious.. Awesome game, I'd love to see a game mode where you can play as the Confederacy.. I bought this game in the [mistaken] belief that it would be like Ultimate General: Gettysburg, which is a superb game. It's not.Graphics are clip-art silhouettes. Terrain is flat "historical" black and white maps. Battles are (per the description) "not always realistic." This game plays a bit like a Civ 2 with four unit types and no resource management.Pros: It's cheap, short, easy achievements, and has cards. That's about it. There are far better battle games\/civil war sims out there to spend your time on.. A very simple but enjoyable hex based strategy game. There is a lot of potential here if the developer wishes to add more scenarios and some additional mechanics. Definitely recommended if you enjoy games like Panzer General or Unity of Command.. DON'T BUY THIS GAMEmost dissapointing game I've gotten for 54 centspros\/cons belowpros: - looks decent in game, especially for such a cheap price- took a good idea and made it simple- no pop ups or giant GUI's- an almost fairly enjoyable playing experiencecons:- awful menu- invisible terrain modifiers- units look like indistinguishable Grade 2 paper cutouts- useless GUI- terrible map placement\/layout- bad unit spawn- units have senseless stats- not much to do in the game- gets mind numbingly boring- terrible and annoying soundtrack- terrible sound effects- no unit stacking on a single tile- sluggish unit movement- flanking enemy units does 40% damage (what the hell). Battle for Petersburg is a very simple hex-based war game. There's really not much to it, but for less than a dollar I'd recommend it for a nice time waster. Here's my full review. 52 minutes from start to finish, with a snack break and moderate pace. No replay value (I'll get some more playtime though to drop all cards). If 2 easy achievements (1 perfect game) and some trading cards are worth 1 Euro to you, then go ahead. Otherwise, you can probably find a better flash game - there are some good thoughts in this game, but somewhat poorly executed (like terrain modifiers that you can't see).
